A plain look at what sets the price of a small business website in Tulsa, what a fixed quote should spell out, and what it costs to keep the site running after launch.
We do not publish a single price for a website, and we would be wary of any designer who does. A four-page site for a plumber who wants a phone number and a service area is not the same job as an online store with inventory, a booking system, and a product catalog. Both are websites, and they can differ in cost by a wide margin. A quote is the only honest way to get a number, because it is built from the specific work you need.
The factors that move the price are fairly predictable. The number of pages and how many of them are new designs. Whether you have written content and photos ready, or whether we need to help you gather them. Whether the site takes payments, bookings, or memberships. Whether we are moving an existing site from another provider, which means checking what is already there before we move it. How much search setup is included, and whether the domain, DNS, and business email need to be configured from scratch.
A useful quote is specific enough that you can compare it with another one. It should list the pages or features in plain language, and it should say what is included around the site itself: the domain, DNS records, email setup, and an SSL certificate so the site loads over HTTPS. It should say when you review the work and what approval looks like before the site goes live. It should also say what happens if you ask for something new in the middle of the project.
Timelines in a quote should be honest estimates, not promises. The biggest reason a launch slips is content and feedback arriving late, so a good quote explains what you need to provide and by when. Ours is a fixed price for the scope it describes. New pages, new sections, or a redesign are priced separately and approved before any work starts, so the invoice does not grow without your say-so.
Builds start with a deposit. At Khual Web Service the deposit is 25 percent of the quoted price unless your quote says otherwise. Work starts once you accept the quote in writing and the deposit is paid. The balance is due when the site is finished and approved, and it must be paid before launch, because that is when the site goes live on your domain and when files and accounts change hands.
Expect the deposit to be non-refundable once work has begun, since it reserves your place and funds the first stretch of work. If a project is cancelled partway through, you pay for the work completed up to that point, and anything you paid beyond that is refunded. Invoices are due within 14 days unless the invoice says otherwise. Card payments are handled by a payment processor, so we never store your card number.
The build is only the first cost. A live site needs hosting, updates, and changes, and those are billed monthly or yearly. Our current plans are Host at $100 a year for hosting only, Care at $39 a month for updates and security patching, Growth at $79 a month with two hours of edits, and Pro at $149 a month with five hours of edits and e-commerce or booking support. Annual billing gives two months free on Care, Growth, and Pro.
Edits beyond a plan's monthly allowance are billed at $75 an hour, and we tell you before you cross that line. Domain renewals are a separate cost that passes through to you. If you host your site with another company, you still need a plan from someone to keep it updated, and you should compare what that plan includes rather than only its price.
Whoever you hire, ask them the same handful of questions before you sign. Who will actually build the site, and will you talk to that person? What exactly is in the price, including the domain, email, and launch? What is the deposit and when is the balance due? How are changes after launch priced, and who is responsible for updates? If you leave, do you receive your files, your domain, and your email, and how quickly? Clear answers to these questions matter more than a low first number.
Send the quote form with your business name, your current website if you have one, the pages or features you expect, and your deadline if you have one. We reply within one business day with a scope and a fixed price. A quote is not a contract, and you are free to decide after you read it. If you are not sure whether you need a build or only a plan, say so in the message and we will tell you which one fits.
